Lens & Lake is an independent publication about action cameras and the gear around them, published by Janet Media Group. It sells nothing directly. Everything here is editorial opinion and research, produced according to the method on the editorial policy page.

The recommendations here are our judgment, not a guarantee. We do not lab-test products, we do not own test units, and specifications are quoted from manufacturer pages as they read on the dates shown in each article's sources.

Manufacturers revise specifications, and products change without notice. Before relying on any depth rating, temperature range, runtime or compatibility claim on this site — and especially before taking equipment underwater — check the manufacturer's current documentation for your exact model. Where the manufacturer and this site disagree, the manufacturer is correct.

Two specific things worth stating plainly. First, mounting anything to a certified helmet may affect its certification or its performance in an impact — check what your helmet's manufacturer says before you attach a mount. Second, never let filming change a decision you would otherwise make about your own safety or anyone else's. Getting the shot is never the priority.
