When you use the contact form

We collect the name, email address, topic and message you type in. That is used to reply to you and nothing else. The message is delivered to us by email through Microsoft Graph (Microsoft's email API) and is retained in that mailbox for as long as the correspondence is useful.

The form also records the moment the page loaded and your IP address at submission. Both are used purely as spam defenses — a submission completed in under three seconds, or a sixth submission from the same address within an hour, is rejected. The IP address is held in memory on the server for at most an hour and is never written to a database or shared.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and which recommendations people find useful. It records things like the page you viewed, roughly where in the world you are, and whether you clicked a product link. It does not tell us your name, your email address, or what you went on to buy.

Affiliate links

When you click a product link, you pass through our own redirect and on to the retailer, and a tracking tag identifies us as the referrer so we are credited for any sale. The retailer — Amazon, in almost every case — then applies its own cookies and privacy policy, which we do not control. How the commission arrangement works is set out on the affiliate disclosure page, and Amazon's own privacy notice covers what they do once you arrive.

What we never collect

• Payment details. Nothing is sold on this site, so there is nothing to pay for here.
• Accounts or passwords. There is no login.
• A mailing list. There is no newsletter at launch, so there is no list to be on.

The site itself does not set advertising cookies. Google Analytics sets its own cookies to distinguish one visit from another; you can block them with a browser setting or an extension and the site will work exactly the same. Retailers you click through to set their own, which is how affiliate attribution works at all.

If you have written to us and want that correspondence deleted, email janet.hoyo@yahoo.com and we will delete it. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to ask what we hold, to correct it, or to object to its use — the same address covers all of those, and we will respond within a reasonable period.

For analytics data, Google provides its own opt-out tools, and browser-level blocking works too.

This site is written for adults buying camera equipment and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them.

If this policy changes materially, the effective date at the top of the page changes with it. There is no mailing list to notify, so the date is the record.
